Please see photos for details. Made in occuped Japan stamped with Gold Stamp. On the rim there is a purple piece of paint, which matches the flowers, looks to be factory defect. This is not a chip. 
This item is from 1945-1952 and will have wear due to it's age. Please reach out if you would like additional photos. 
There are NO CHIPS OR CRACKS PRESENT on either piece.
